"Foreign Language Documents!"

Yes, no problem. Language is not a barrier when it comes to getting a notary done. The script does not matter, and has no bearing when notarizing papers. We can affix the correct language if your papers do not have it. We perform notary acts daily for foreign language documents. Need an Apostille same day? No appointment necessary just stop in.

Notary Public

When documents are notarized in Washington State the notary public will  follow notary law for Washington State. If you have specific questions about how a document should be notarized please reach out to us.

  • What is an Apostille and how much does it cost?

    Apostille services cost $135

The Apostille authentication certify the document is able to cross international borders. This certification guarantees the document was executed correctly and with the proper notarial language attached. Not all countries participate in the Hague convention of 1961.

  • What if my paper is in a foreign language?

It does not matter what type script is on the paper. The primary function of a notary is to witness the signature on the document and then verify identity. Script, Stroke, & Velocity are not determinng factors for notarization. Foreign documents that lack the proper notary language can have an acknowledgement attached or we can add a bit of language before embossing the stamp to the page. Example - "subscribed & Sworn before me on:_____.

  • Can a notary be a witness and also notarize on the same sheet of paper?

Not in Washington State. Some states like Florida will allow the notary to be a witness and notary on the same document; however Washington State does not allow this practice. RCW 42.45 contains the rules for notarization in WA.

  • I-9 Employment Verifications.

I-9 verifications do not require notarizations just a notary to acknowledge your identity through credible documents.  This is done using  your drivers license,  passport, visa, and /or social  security card.

  • Does a POA need a witness?

Power of attorney documents do not require a witness in Washington State. If you purchased your POA at office depot or online they are drafted for all 50 states and are considered a boilerplate draft. Wills on the other hand do require 2 witnesses. Greyhound Legal can bring the necessary witnesses to your location if needed.

  • Notarizing documents at a detention center.

There must be a chain of knowledge between the duty officer and the notary attesting to the inmates identity. Additionally the duty officer would take a sworn oath at the time of  notarization.

  • Notarizing for a paraplegic & incapacitation.

If able they can sign by holding the pen in their mouth or the Notary can sign on their behalf in some cases. The individual must be awake and cogent to consent that the notary is making a mark on his or her behalf.

  • Does Penmanship Matter and what about Illegible Signatures?

It has very little bearing for a Notary. A trademark is a trademark no matter how bad it looks. When pen meets paper the document is legally binding and the trademark has been executed. Notaries are not experts on the physics of scribbles. Each instance of velocity, speed, and motion will vary with each signature. Trademarks can be affixed to a document with your hand, foot, or even your mouth! It makes no difference when it comes to qualifying for notarization.

If  the signer is unable to grasp the pen due to stroke the notary may hold the clipboard to meet the pen.  The mark does not have to be legible. A simple scratch or X will meet the requirement for notarization in Washington State.
